9 months in numbers

The girls had their 9 month check-up on Friday. Everyone is healthy and growing well, even though they are still tiny for a 9 month old. We've got some tall and skinny little girls.

Maya- 14 pounds, 1 ounce; 26 inches
Fiona- 14 pounds, 10 ounces; 26.5 inches
Hannah- 16 pounds; 27 inches

Maya is most definitely crawling now. She has two favorite destinations in her travels- the dog bed and underneath any of the saucers. Frequently we find her in the dog bed trying to chew on computer cables, which is a charming habit to develop.

Fiona and Hannah are getting up on all fours now, but no crawling yet. They are quite adept at rolling across the room, though.

This week they're trying chicken for the first time. I made them chicken last night- can't say I've ever made pureed meat before, but it wasn't too hard. I only ended up with a small amount of chicken juice in my hair by the time I was done.

9 months old!

Happy 9 months old girls! We can't believe that in 3 short months, you'll all be (gasp) a whole year old.

Clean up crew

How, exactly, do you clean 3 babies after they smear sweet potatoes all over every possible body part?

Call in the dogs.  Bella and Sandy, to be precise.  Bella is the golden colored dog, with the long, very thorough tongue.  Sandy is the black colored dog, with the cautious, careful tongue.

Sooooo much easier than daily bath time!

A day at the beach

This weekend, we took the girls to Fisherman's Beach in Swampscott to play in the sand. It was a beautiful day, and they all enjoyed touching, eating, and playing with the sand.

Also this weekend, Aunt Jodi came for a visit, which was fantastic. She took a bunch of awesome pictures- they are here and here.


Jodi managed to capture Maya up on her knees. Yes, we're starting to get close to mobility, which is a terrifying prospect. Our herding dogs will have to do their best to keep everyone contained once that day finally comes.



And to close, a shot of all 3 girls in the bikinis that their Mugwump got them. I think they spent most of the time trying to eat each other's bikini, but it was still awfully cute.

What a long way we've all come in 8 months!

Eight months later, and we have jumping, bouncing, scream-talking little dynamos on our hands.

I wish I could report on their weights, but given the super-healthy status the girls have managed to maintain, they haven't been weighed since 6 months and aren't due until 9 months.  Estimates are that Hannah is around 15 pounds, Fiona and Maya around 13 1/2 pounds.

Tasty tongues

We've been working hard on eating.  Maya and Hannah are doing really well with eating from a spoon, but Fiona's taking a little while to warm up to it.

After eating, there's obviously quite the clean-up job for Bella and Sandy.

After eating, sometimes we hang out in the sun room.

All the cleaning and baby-tending sometimes leaves the puppies a little tired out, though.

For reason that escape us, Hannah and Fiona both enjoy sucking on their own tongues.  What exactly makes their tongues so curiously delicious?  I'd love to know.  Here's Hannah, snacking on her tongue.
