Late summer 2009

We've had a lot of fun at the beach this summer. Witness the reason we need lots of baths!

Happy Birthday Nana!

Happy Happy Happy Birthday, Nana!

Hannah, Maya, and Fiona say they love you bigger than the sky!!!

It is finally summer in Boston, so it's time to be summery!

Friday night, we busted out the bikinis and finger paints.  Little artists in training, for sure.

Fiona:
Maya:
Hannah:
And the ultimate summer complement, of course, is painted toenails.  We had a little pedicure night, and I painted everyone's toes in the same color as mine, which of course the girls LOVED.  They got pretty scuffed pretty quickly, but oh well, it's still cute.  And they look so good in their new flip flops- our latest obsession.  Clearly, these girls are my daughters- in love with painted toenails and flip flops.

The rest of the photos are here.

Can you believe 21 months is just around the corner?

Go Go Go!

Somehow, our shopping excusrions of late have become like amusement park rides for the girls.

I think this has something to do with the fact that I go as fast as possible, racing down the aisles- partly to get the shopping done before boredom kicks in, partly to avoid talking to people.

Fiona, the little daredevil, eggs me on. Last night, flying down the aisles of Costco, she started chanting "Go Go Go" to me. A few moments later, Hannah and Maya joined in- I had a crew of toddler cheerleaders pushing me through the store.

I'm sure we looked certifiably nuts to anyone watching, but oh well. We had fun.

Triplet apprentices

A few weeks ago, we went to visit our friends in Connecticut and their adorable triplet girls, who are now 3 months old.

Left to right:
Meiyi (Mary), Lingyi (Lillian), and Xinyi (Jenny); and Hannah, Maya, and Fiona
Our girls had a blast exploring the Li home and eating all of the gummy bears, cookies, and lollipops the had out for us.

Thank you, Qunliang and Jingli, for having us over to your home!  We are looking forward to many more playdates in the months to come.

Vote for us!

The girls are lucky enough to have made the top 20 in a Cutest Multiples Contest.  Please vote!  They could win some swanky new shoes and other cool stuff.  Vote now, before May 6, and again after May 6- here is the link!

The other day, I took the girls to the playground on the beach in Nahant- it was entirely too warm and sunny to spend the day cooped up inside.  I'll take these pictures as a chance to describe what the girls are up to these days.

Fiona:

Crazy Fiona.  This girl loves to rock.  We frequently find her sitting on the rocking horse her aunt Carolyn got them for their first birthday.  She'll sit there, bouncing like a maniac and screaming for fun.  She's taken to removing all her clothes and all items from her crib, so when you find her in the morning, she's a naked, jumping, giggling maniac.

Hannah:
Hannah has a new nickname- Mother Hannah.  She just wants to take care of her sisters.  If one of them is crying, she brings them a sippy cup or a cookie, along with a pat on the back.  She loves hugs and cuddling, perhaps to an extreme- she won't hesitate to bite the person who interferes with her cuddle time.  But usually the philanthropy prevails- the other night, Maya dropped part of her Oreo, and instead of stealing it for herself, Hannah picked it up and gave it to Maya to finish.

Maya:
Maya is our little adventurer.  She was the first to start walking, and pretty much runs everywhere she wants to go these days.  And if you don't want her to go there, you're in trouble.  Most attempts to hold her hand while walking end up with her struggling to peel your hand off her arm so that she can run away, usually towards whatever undesirable location she can find.  But she isn't totally independent- she's learned how to give very sweet kisses and hugs to make up for her rebellious streak.

We have a bunch of new pictures to share- you can find them here:

Love to you all!

Organizational skills

Little mini-Steeves in their daddy's glasses:

Hannah
Fiona
Maya
And a video of Hannah and her somewhat obsessive tendencies to organize things. One of my favorite parts of watching Hannah put everything where it needs to be is watching Maya in the background- sitting in a dog bed with a toy penguin, eating part of a marshmallow Peep.

Hope you all are doing well!

The pasta dance

For reasons that escape us, even when the girls are in no mood to eat anything real, they will eat pasta until they pop.  Especially pasta with marina sauce, because sauce is the best possible facial moisturizer on the market.

Need proof of the Lubriderm-like qualities of tomato sauce?  Look no further....

And the energy you feel after consuming this tasty repast frequently inspires dance parties:

Triple stairmasters

Fiona, Maya, and Hannah have learned how to climb the stairs.  While this can be frustrating, like when you need to put dinner dishes away, at naptime or bedtime, it is FANTASTIC as it now means one adult, one trip up the stairs, instead of triple the stair runs.

Evidence:

Way to climb, girls!

Bath time triumph

Our first attempt at giving all 3 girls a bath in the tub recently was nothing less than a total disaster.  Just picture 3 naked babies screaming and scrambling to crawl out of a tub at once, and you have the idea.

After some coaxing and several tries at bath time, we've turned a major corner.  Last night, everyone had a screeching, squealing, splashing good time.   Maya had a meltdown when we took her out to get dried off.

Some video evidence of the fun:

I should have posted earlier, but our little peanuts had their 15 month check-up recently.  I was really hoping somebody would crack 20 pounds, but sadly not.

Hannah- 19 pounds, 7 ounces; 30 inches
Fiona- 17 pounds, 8 ounces; 29.5 inches
Maya- 17 pounds, 8 ounces; 29 inches

Thankfully, they all got the nasty stomach bug that swept through our house right after the check-up, otherwise they would have weighed even less.  The nurse's advice: pork up the girls with regular chocolate frappes.  As if I needed an additional excuse to have ice cream in the house!

Skirts and kisses

Today the girls wore the cute skirts they got from Jill for Christmas, and it was too cute not to document.

And lastly, photographic evidence that these girls will either be the world's best or worst kissers when they are older.  Here is Bella giving Hannah a tutorial on French kissing.

Triplet Dance Party

Jay got the girls dancing last night, thanks to his lovely singing voice.  Watch how Fiona rocks some wicked moves.  And please note the entirely desperate puppy at the end, frantically searching for his lost ball.

Way to dance, girls!!!

New Year, New Skills

Happy new year to you all! Sorry we've been MIA lately, but we have lots of new skills to show off in the new year....

Walking! Granted, it is still very much a drunk-Frankenstein walk, but each day it gets better. The look of joy and elation on each girls' face is totally priceless when they realize that they are standing and about to take a step.

Jodi took a lot of photos over New Years, and they're posted here.

And for evidence, here's a video of Maya walking:

And Hannah walking:

And Fiona walking:

Way to go, girls!!!
